Risk-on sentiment snapped back Wednesday afternoon after President Donald Trump said planned tariffs on European Union countries will no longer take effect, citing progress on a Greenland framework with NATO leadership.

In a tweet on Truth Social, Trump said he will no longer impose the 10% tariffs on European Union countries that were scheduled to take effect on Feb. 1, following what he described as a "very productive" meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

“We have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region," Trump said.

"This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations."

Trump said negotiations will continue and extend beyond Greenland. "Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland," Trump said.

He said Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and others will lead negotiations.
