Trevor Noah Says 'Potato' And Makes Prediction Markets Mainstream At The Grammys: 'You Just Made A Ton Of Money'

By Rounak Jain | February 02, 2026, 1:41 AM

Comedian Trevor Noah hosted the 2026 Grammys in Los Angeles and, during the event, mentioned something that grabbed the attention of prediction market bettors.

Noah, during the show, brought up Polymarket, a Polygon (CRYPTO: POL) based prediction platform that allows users to wager on an outcome using the USDC (CRYPTO: USDC) stablecoin.

‘Potato,' Says Noah

While welcoming viewers, Noah said the word "Potato," then added, "If you had me saying ‘Potato' on Polymarket, you just made a ton of money."

He then mentioned a user by the name "noah_22," congratulating them and adding, "whoever that is."

Polymarket Shares Video

The video was shared by Polymarket on X, adding "What is happening????"

It is not clear if Noah mentioning Polymarket was part of a script or not.

The mention of Polymarket at the Grammys is likely to give a good boost to prediction markets, including platforms like Kalshi.

Not The First Mention Of Prediction Markets

This is not the first time someone famous has mentioned prediction markets. During its Q3 2025 earnings, Coinbase Global Inc. (NASDAQ:COIN) CEO Brian Armstrong said a word salad, which meant nothing to the listeners but was aimed at prediction market bettors.

Armstrong mentioned "Bitcoin, Ethereum, blockchain, staking and Web3," saying, "I was tracking the prediction market."

lol this was fun – happened spontaneously when someone on our team dropped a link in the chat https://t.co/tQiV3B9jUj

These were words that bettors on platforms such as Kalshi had bet on being mentioned during the company's earnings.
