Nio Inc. (NYSE:NIO) is gearing up for an aggressive SUV expansion, unveiling plans to roll out new flagship and sub-brand models in the coming months as it intensifies competition with rivals including Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Li Auto Inc. (NASDAQ:LI) in China's fast-growing electric vehicle market.
Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of the automaker, outlined the company's near-term product strategy during a recent community event, CnEV Post reports.
He shared timelines covering both the core Nio lineup and its Onvo sub-brand.
Upcoming Flagship SUV Plans
The executive said Nio will host a dedicated product and technology showcase around April 10 for its ES9 SUV, the report adds.
Management expects the model to reach showrooms later in May, with pricing revealed during the launch period. Deliveries should begin at the start of June.
The company's Onvo division will also introduce a new vehicle, the L80, during the second quarter.
Nio plans to release full specifications toward the end of April, followed by pricing announcements and initial deliveries in mid-May. The timing aligns with the sub-brand's second anniversary and highlights its role in expanding Nio's broader product ecosystem.
Record Battery-Swap Activity Fuels Momentum
The Chinese electric vehicle maker set multiple single-day records for its battery-swap service during the 2026 Spring Festival between February 15 to 23, peaking at 177,627 daily swaps.
It is the sixth time in February alone that it broke its own historical record, signaling robust demand for its swap infrastructure.
