Crane Harbor Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:CHAC) shares are edging up Tuesday morning after merger target Xanadu Quantum Technologies announced a new collaboration with Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) aimed at pushing quantum computing toward real-world aerospace and engineering uses. Here’s what investors need to know.
Xanadu Uses AMD DevCloud For Hybrid Quantum Simulations
In the release, Xanadu said it used AMD high-performance computing and AI infrastructure on the AMD DevCloud together with its PennyLane quantum software to demonstrate computational fluid dynamics simulations in a hybrid quantum-classical environment.
The company said the work compiled and executed a CFD model with 256-by-256 matrix elements using 20 qubits and roughly 35 million quantum gates, underscoring the scale of the test.
Xanadu also highlighted performance gains from the tie-up, saying it cut simulation time by 25 times when moving a core quantum algorithm from a traditional CPU to a single AMD GPU.
The company added that its Catalyst compiler translated a 68-qubit quantum circuit into more than 15 million hardware-optimized gates, a step it said could help prepare future fault-tolerant quantum systems for industrial applications.
Xanadu Merger Backed By $500 Million Expected Proceeds
For Crane Harbor investors, the announcement adds to the strategic case for its proposed business combination with Xanadu. The companies previously said the combined entity is expected to launch with about $500 million in gross proceeds, including roughly $225 million from Crane Harbor's trust and $275 million from a committed private placement, assuming no shareholder redemptions.
Xanadu is expected to go public following a March 19 shareholder vote on its merger with Crane Harbor, with the companies targeting a first-quarter 2026 close after the SEC cleared the registration statement on February 27 and pending final approvals and exchange listings.
