The Week Ahead: Fed Interest Rate Decision Highlights Busy Week

Next week will bring several closely watched economic reports, with investors eyeing manufacturing surveys and data, housing market updates, as well as retail and import figures. The real star of the show though, will be the Federal Reserve. Traders will be particularly focused on the central bank's interest-rate decision and leading indicators to anticipate future trends.

The earnings front is short with Dave & Buster's Entertainment (PLAY) and Kroger (KR) on deck.

Below is the schedule of key market events for the week ahead. All economic dates are tentative and subject to change.

On Monday, June 15, brings the Empire State Manufacturing Survey, Industrial Production data, Capacity Utilization data, and NAHB Housing Market Index numbers.

Housing starts and import prices are due out early Tuesday, June 16.

Wednesday, June 17, features retail sales numbers, pending home sales data, manufacturing inventory and sale reports, as well as the heavily anticipated U.S. interest rate decision. 

For Thursday, June 18, we will see weekly jobs data, leading indicators, and an outlook survey from Philadelphia Fed Business. 

Friday, June 19, there are no major economic reports scheduled.
