IBM (NYSE:IBM) has introduced three new additions to its Power platform, including a next-generation Power11 server, an artificial intelligence-powered operations tool and a new development package designed to simplify IBM i application development.
New Power11 server targets on-premises deployments
The company unveiled the Power S1112, a single-socket Power11 server built for compact on-premises environments.
According to IBM, the new system delivers twice the core performance of the Power S914 and three times the core performance of the Power S814. It also offers up to 69 percent greater energy efficiency than the Power S914.
The Power S1112 is scheduled to become generally available on 24 July 2026.
AI software automates system management
IBM also introduced Power Autonomous Operations, an AI-powered software agent designed to monitor Power systems and automatically resolve capacity-related issues.
The company said internal testing showed the software completed the detection and resolution process in an average of 3.33 minutes, compared with 52.59 minutes when the same tasks were handled manually across 11 Power systems in a controlled testing environment.
IBM expects the software to be generally available on 23 September 2026.
New AI assistant for IBM i developers
The company also highlighted the IBM Bob Premium Package for i, an artificial intelligence-based development assistant intended to make IBM i application development more accessible.
The tool aims to reduce the learning curve associated with RPG programming, allowing developers with less experience on the platform to become productive more quickly.
The package became generally available on 24 June 2026.
IBM said early customer Heartland Co-Op estimates the software enables developers who are new to the platform to understand complex applications around 60 percent faster.
Focus on AI and enterprise reliability
Commenting on the new products, Hillery Hunter, General Manager for IBM Power and Chief Technology Officer of IBM Infrastructure, said:
“Enterprises should not need to choose between moving at the speed of AI and keeping their systems stable and secure.”
Alongside the product launches, IBM also announced Power Expert Care Premium Essentials, a new support service available exclusively for the Power S1112 that provides priority access to IBM specialists and faster response times.
