Phio Pharmaceuticals has strengthened the intellectual property protection surrounding its INTASYL® gene silencing platform after receiving multiple favorable patent decisions across the United States, Canada, and Japan.
Phio Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:PHIO) announced multiple patent milestones that further expand protection for its proprietary INTASYL® gene silencing technology.
The company received three notices of allowance and one grant decision across key international markets, including the United States, Canada, and Japan. According to Phio, the new patent actions strengthen protection for its INTASYL compounds and reinforce its global intellectual property strategy.
Following the latest additions, the company’s patent portfolio now consists of 54 issued patents covering INTASYL® chemistry, specific gene targets, immuno-oncology compounds, and therapeutic indications across multiple jurisdictions.
Phio’s lead clinical candidate, PH-762, is an INTASYL compound being developed as a potential non-surgical treatment for skin cancers by silencing the PD-1 gene.
For clinical-stage biotechnology companies, intellectual property is often a key strategic asset because it can protect proprietary technology while supporting future licensing and partnership opportunities.
The latest patent advancements may strengthen Phio’s competitive position as it continues developing its INTASYL® platform and advancing PH-762 through clinical development. Broader patent coverage across multiple jurisdictions could also enhance the long-term value of the platform if future commercialization efforts are successful.
While the announcement does not include new clinical data, it reinforces the company’s efforts to protect the technology underlying its immuno-oncology pipeline.
Investors will be looking for continued progress in the clinical development of PH-762, including future updates from its oncology program.
Additional catalysts include further expansion of the INTASYL® patent portfolio, potential strategic partnerships, and regulatory or clinical milestones that could advance the company’s gene silencing platform toward commercialization.
