GE Vernova Stock Powers Higher Ahead of Earnings

By Liliana Orozco | July 20, 2026, 2:10 PM
GE Vernova Inc (NYSE:GEV) will report second-quarter earnings before the market opens on Wednesday, July 22. According to Zacks Research, analysts expect profits of $3.17 on revenue of $10.77 billion, or a year-over-year earnings per share (EPS) growth of 70.4%. The shares were last seen up 1.4% at $1,072.14.

The energy tech concern has built an impressive post-earnings history, closing six of its last eight next-day sessions higher, including a 13.7% pop in April. Options traders are bracing for a larger-than-usual post-earnings swing of 11.5%, compared to the average 5.5% shift over the past eight quarters.

On the charts, the shares are 10.4% off their July 6 all-time high of $1,195.94, despite rebounding off the $1,000 floor last week. Year-over-year the equity has added 84%, but gains today are being capped by the $1,100 mark.

Short interest has been on the rise, up 27.2% during the last two reporting periods. It would take roughly four days at GEV's average trading pace to buy back the 11.68 million shares sold short.

GE Vernova stock has been seeing bearish attention of late, too. This is per the 50-day put/call volume ratio of 1.08 at the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Cboe Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX), which ranks in the 93rd percentile of its annual range.
