Nvidia disclosure boosts investor confidence

Nebius Group (NASDAQ:NBIS) shares rose 5.7% in pre-market trading after Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) disclosed a 9.3% passive ownership stake in the artificial intelligence cloud infrastructure company through a Schedule 13G filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The filing, dated 13 July 2026 and released publicly on 20 July, shows that Nvidia owns approximately 22.26 million shares. The position includes around 1.19 million common shares and roughly 21 million shares linked to a warrant acquired as part of Nvidia’s previously announced $2 billion strategic investment.

According to the filing, the warrant cannot be exercised before 11 September 2026.

Analyst upgrades add further momentum

The regulatory disclosure coincided with a series of bullish analyst updates that reinforced positive sentiment toward the stock.

Freedom Capital upgraded Nebius to Buy from Hold and increased its price target to $200 from $159, valuing the company at between four and six times its projected 2028 EV/EBITDA, in line with other neocloud companies.

Northland also raised its price target to $410 while maintaining its Outperform recommendation, arguing that Nebius has the potential to secure approximately 14% of a projected $800 billion artificial intelligence as a service (AIaaS) market over its forecast period.

Meanwhile, Bank of America analyst Tal Liani reaffirmed a Buy rating and maintained a $280 price target, citing continued growth in AI computing demand and the company’s transition toward a more asset-light operating model.

Stronger technology market supports gains

The broader technology sector also provided a favourable backdrop for Nebius.

The Nasdaq was trading 1.3% higher in pre-market activity as semiconductor stocks recovered following last week’s selling pressure. Investors were also positioning ahead of a busy week of earnings from major technology companies, with results expected to provide fresh insight into demand for AI infrastructure.

Attention turns to second-quarter earnings

The combination of Nvidia’s investment disclosure, multiple analyst upgrades and improving sentiment across the technology sector has strengthened investor confidence in Nebius’s growth outlook.

With second-quarter results scheduled for 29 July 2026, markets will be watching closely to determine whether the company’s financial performance supports the recent re-rating of the shares.
