Cloud-based ADAS agreement boosts investor sentiment
Mobileye Global Inc. (NASDAQ:MBLY) shares gained 5% on Tuesday after the company announced that its Cloud-Enhanced Advanced Driver Assist technology will be deployed in selected future Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) vehicles beginning in 2027.
The collaboration will incorporate Mobileye’s REM Road Experience Management platform into certain Stellantis models, bringing enhanced cloud-powered driver assistance capabilities to future vehicles.
REM technology to support advanced driving features
The agreement is expected to enable features including intelligent lane centering on roads without lane markings, as well as hands-free, eyes-on driving under approved operating conditions.
The first vehicles equipped with the technology are expected to launch in selected U.S. models next year.
Crowdsourced mapping network continues to expand
With the addition of Stellantis, five of the world’s ten largest automakers now contribute driving data to Mobileye’s REM platform.
During the past year, the system collected information from more than 8 million vehicles covering approximately 34 billion miles. The platform now maps more than 95% of public roads across the United States and Europe.
REM relies on front-facing cameras installed in vehicles equipped with Mobileye’s EyeQ processors to collect anonymized information about road layouts, lane configurations, curbs, pedestrian crossings and typical driving behaviour.
That information is transmitted to the cloud, where it is processed into a continuously updated intelligence layer that supports advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving technologies.
Coverage currently spans highways and urban roads throughout the United States and Europe, with expansion continuing across markets in Asia, North America and South America.
Mobileye deepens relationship with Stellantis
“We’re proud to expand our work with Stellantis, bringing a new level of intelligence to the vehicle itself through REM and the EyeQ6L,” said Nimrod Nehushtan, Mobileye Executive Vice President of Business Development and Strategy.
The company also noted that more than 230 million vehicles worldwide had been built with Mobileye’s EyeQ technology through 2025.
