C.H. Robinson Worldwide (NASDAQ:CHRW) shares fell around 4% in premarket trading on Friday after the logistics company disclosed that a Texas jury had issued an advisory verdict awarding $604 million in damages in a lawsuit stemming from a trucking accident.

The potential financial liability weighed on investor sentiment, although the company said it intends to challenge the decision through the legal process.

Texas jury awards $604 million in damages

According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a jury in Dallas County, Texas issued an advisory verdict on July 23, 2026, awarding compensatory damages totaling $604 million.

The lawsuit relates to a trucking accident involving an independent motor carrier and names C.H. Robinson along with two other defendants.

The company noted that the damages could ultimately be assessed against it, although the case remains subject to further judicial review before any final judgment is entered.

Company plans to challenge the ruling

C.H. Robinson said it disagrees with the jury’s findings and expects to pursue an appeal if the advisory verdict is adopted by the court as a final judgment.

The company indicated that post-trial proceedings must still take place before the legal process is completed.

As a result, the final outcome and any financial obligation remain uncertain.

Investors assess potential financial impact

The size of the proposed damages prompted a negative market reaction, with investors evaluating the possible financial implications for the transportation and logistics provider.

While the advisory verdict does not represent a final court ruling, the $604 million award highlights a potentially significant legal exposure if upheld through the remaining stages of the case.
