The initiative is intended to provide consumers with greater access to trusted neighborhood grocers while strengthening Uber Eats’ presence in the grocery delivery sector. Shoppers can now purchase groceries and household essentials through the Uber Eats, Uber, and Postmates apps, choosing either same-day delivery or scheduled drop-offs. Customers will also be able to monitor their orders through real-time tracking features.
One of the newly added partners, Busch’s Fresh Food Market, has served Michigan communities for more than five decades. The family-owned chain is known for its fresh produce, high-quality meat and seafood, prepared meals, and support of local suppliers.
Hays, another family-operated grocery company, brings more than 100 years of experience serving customers in Arkansas and Missouri through its Hays Supermarkets and Food Smart brands.
Also joining the platform is Lowe’s Market, a division of Pay and Save, Inc. Based primarily in Texas, the retailer offers a wide assortment of products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, pantry essentials, and regional favorites.
In addition, participating Piggly Wiggly locations in North Carolina are now available through Uber Eats. The iconic brand is widely recognized for pioneering the self-service grocery store model in the United States.
According to Uber, adding regional and independent grocery retailers enhances product variety for consumers while creating new opportunities for grocers to connect with customers. The company continues to invest in grocery delivery as part of its strategy to expand beyond restaurant meals and become a broader marketplace for everyday shopping needs.
To place an order, customers can access the Grocery section in the Uber Eats app or the Shops section in the Uber app. After selecting a participating store nearby, they can browse products, add items to their cart, choose immediate or scheduled delivery, and follow their order’s progress from checkout to arrival.
These new partnerships reinforce Uber Eats’ position in the rapidly growing online grocery market, where demand for convenience, flexible delivery options, and access to local retailers continues to rise.
Uber Technologies stock (NYSE:UBER) opened trading at US$70.60 and has lost 15 per cent since the year began.
