Klarna (NYSE:KLAR) has expanded its U.S. payments network by integrating with the J.P. Morgan Payments Commerce Platform, enabling merchants to offer Klarna’s flexible payment solutions at checkout without requiring additional technical development.
The partnership broadens Klarna’s access to U.S. retailers while simplifying implementation for businesses using J.P. Morgan’s payments infrastructure.
Merchants gain access to multiple payment options
Through the integration, merchants across sectors including fashion, travel, and health and wellness can provide customers with three Klarna payment methods at checkout.
These include paying the full amount immediately, splitting purchases into interest-free instalments, or choosing longer-term financing.
The streamlined integration is designed to allow businesses to activate Klarna’s services without undertaking separate technical integration work.
Partnership leverages J.P. Morgan’s scale
J.P. Morgan Payments handles approximately $2.6 trillion in merchant payment transactions each year and describes itself as the largest merchant acquirer in the United States.
David Sykes, Chief Commercial Officer at Klarna, said: “Going live with J.P. Morgan Payments marks the moment this collaboration moves from ambition to impact. J.P. Morgan Payments’ reach combined with Klarna’s conversion power is a genuine competitive advantage, and it’s now available to every merchant on their platform.”
Simplifying implementation for businesses
Michael Lozanoff, Global Head of Merchant Services at J.P. Morgan Payments, noted that technical complexity has often discouraged merchants from adopting flexible payment solutions.
“By bringing Klarna directly onto our Commerce Platform, we’re helping remove that barrier for businesses of every size,” he said.
Flexible payments continue gaining traction
According to figures referenced in the announcement, more than one in four U.S. consumers are more likely to complete a purchase when flexible payment options are available during checkout.
The collaboration is intended to help merchants improve conversion rates while giving shoppers greater flexibility in how they pay.
