Einride Shares Surge on Tesla Semi Deal Supporting Amazon Freight Network

By Fiona Craig | August 18, 2026, 8:19 AM

Einride AB (NASDAQ:ENRD) shares jumped more than 27% in early pre-market trading on Tuesday after the Swedish technology company announced a partnership with Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) to deploy 500 Tesla Semi trucks across North America for Amazon.

Einride said the programme will represent the largest deployment of its kind globally, with the electric trucks managed through the company’s Saga AI fleet intelligence platform. The vehicles will support Amazon as well as other Einride customers across major freight corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia.

500 Tesla Semis to Join Einride Fleet

The deployment is scheduled to take place in several phases over the next 24 months, beginning in September 2026. Einride said the rollout will be funded through third-party financing solutions.

Adding 500 Tesla Semis will triple the size of Einride’s deployed electric truck fleet, significantly expanding its capacity across the North American freight market.

The company said its Saga AI platform has already supported more than 19 million electric miles and completed 42,000 optimisation sessions worldwide, drawing on seven years of commercial operating experience.

“This deployment is yet another proof point that we can execute at the scale our customers demand,” said Roozbeh Charli, Chief Executive Officer at Einride. “Working closely with Tesla to bring next-generation Semis into active operations quickly and at scale is a testament to the strength of that partnership, and how quickly this technology is maturing from promise to daily operations.”

Tesla Highlights Cost Benefits of Electric Heavy Trucks

The agreement also deepens the relationship between Einride and Tesla as the companies seek to expand the commercial use of electric heavy-duty vehicles.

“Einride is at the forefront of sustainable freight and we are thrilled to deepen our relationship with them through this order of 500 Semis,” said Dan Priestley, Director of Semi at Tesla. “EV heavy trucks provide lower costs per mile from fuel savings, reduced maintenance, and better uptime over diesel trucks.”

The deployment across multiple U.S. states provides a substantial test of those potential operating benefits at commercial scale, while increasing the number of Tesla Semis in active freight operations.

Einride Targets $800 Million Revenue Opportunity

Beyond expanding its physical fleet, the programme represents an important step in Einride’s efforts to turn its commercial pipeline into recurring revenue.

The company said the deployment will help convert approximately $800 million in potential long-term annual recurring revenue associated with joint business plans with shippers into active, revenue-generating freight capacity.

For Einride AB (NASDAQ:ENRD), the agreement combines a significant increase in electric trucking capacity with broader adoption of its Saga AI technology, while strengthening its position in the transition towards electric freight transportation across North America.
