GoPro, Inc. (NASDAQ:GPRO) has opened pre-orders for its new Mission 1 Pro ILS, a compact cinema camera equipped with a Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens system. The model carries a recommended retail price of $699.99, while existing GoPro subscribers can purchase it for $599.99.
Global retail availability is scheduled to begin on September 2, expanding GoPro’s Mission 1 lineup with a model aimed at users seeking greater flexibility over lenses and professional video production.
Mission 1 Pro ILS supports 8K video recording
The Mission 1 Pro ILS is the third model in GoPro’s Mission 1 Series and combines a 50-megapixel 1-inch sensor with the company’s GP3 processor. Despite its cinema-focused specifications, the camera weighs just 6.95 ounces, or 197 grams.
Video capabilities extend to 8K recording at 60 frames per second and 4K at up to 240 frames per second. Open Gate recording is available at up to 8K30 and 4K120.
Other production features include 10-bit colour, GP-Log2 encoding, HLG HDR video and bit rates reaching 240Mbps, giving filmmakers additional flexibility for colour grading and post-production workflows.
Micro Four Thirds mount expands lens options
Unlike GoPro’s traditional fixed-lens cameras, the Mission 1 Pro ILS supports manual-focus and manual-aperture Micro Four Thirds lenses. Users can also attach vintage glass and professional PL-mount cinema lenses with compatible adapters, although lenses are sold separately.
Audio capabilities include an integrated four-microphone array and 32-bit float recording. The camera is powered by a 2150mAh Enduro 2 battery, which GoPro says can provide more than three hours of continuous recording at 4K30.
GoPro introduces Mission Monitor app
Alongside the new camera, GoPro announced Mission Monitor, a free professional monitoring application for iPhones and iPads running iOS 18 or later.
The app provides tools including focus peaking, zebra-pattern exposure assistance, real-time LUT previews and integrated controls for operating the camera. Mission Monitor is scheduled to arrive on Apple’s App Store on September 2.
Mission 1 Series builds industry recognition
According to GoPro, its Mission 1 Series has attracted recognition from technology publications including Tom’s Guide, PCMag and Gizmodo since its initial introduction.
The Mission 1 Pro ILS also collected two awards at NAB Show 2026, including CineD’s Best-of-Show Award, adding to the company’s efforts to establish the range within the professional and enthusiast video market.
GoPro also said the Mission 1, Mission 1 Pro and Mission 1 Pro Grip Edition are currently being offered with a $100 discount for a limited period.
