MongoDB Shares Fall 14% as Atlas Growth Remains at Recent Levels

By Fiona Craig | September 02, 2026, 6:04 AM

MongoDB (NASDAQ:MDB) shares fell more than 14% in premarket trading on Wednesday after the database software company reported fiscal second-quarter 2027 results, with growth in its Atlas cloud database platform remaining broadly in line with recent quarters.

MongoDB reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.90, above the consensus estimate of $1.61. Revenue reached $771.8 million, exceeding the $735.16 million analyst estimate and increasing 30% year over year.

The company said the revenue increase represented its highest growth rate in several years.

Atlas revenue rose 29% year over year to $565.9 million. The growth rate was broadly consistent with levels reported in recent quarters.

MongoDB Raises Fiscal 2027 Guidance

MongoDB increased its full-year fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to between $2.99 billion and $3.03 billion.

The midpoint of $3.01 billion compares with an analyst consensus estimate of $2.96 billion.

The company also raised its full-year adjusted earnings guidance to between $6.39 and $6.58 per share. The midpoint of $6.485 is above the consensus estimate of $6.13.

Management attributed the higher guidance primarily to performance in Atlas.

“We delivered strong second quarter results, highlighted by 30% year-over-year revenue growth—the highest level of growth in several years—and continued strong profitability,” said CJ Desai, President and Chief Executive Officer of MongoDB.

Adjusted Operating Margin Increases to 24%

Enterprise Advanced and other revenue increased approximately 36% from the corresponding period a year earlier.

MongoDB reported adjusted operating income of $185.9 million, representing an adjusted operating margin of 24%. That compared with a 15% margin in the same period last year.

Free cash flow increased to $137.6 million, nearly double the level reported a year earlier.

MongoDB Provides Third-Quarter Outlook

For the third quarter of fiscal 2027, MongoDB expects revenue of between $756 million and $761 million.

The company forecasts adjusted earnings per share of $1.57 to $1.61 for the quarter.

The third-quarter and full-year projections represent company guidance and remain subject to future business and market conditions.
