Equinix Shares Rise 2% After Launch of AI Inference Program With Nvidia and Together AI

By Fiona Craig | September 02, 2026, 9:52 AM

Equinix (NASDAQ:EQIX) shares rose 2% on Wednesday after the company announced Equinix Inference Exchange, a distributed artificial intelligence inference program developed in collaboration with Nvidia and Together AI.

The program brings together Nvidia Enterprise Reference Architectures, Together AI’s inference platform and Equinix’s global infrastructure for enterprises deploying AI workloads.

According to Equinix, the combination is designed to support deployment speed, flexibility and cost management. These benefits represent the company’s stated objectives for the program rather than independently established performance outcomes.

Equinix Inference Exchange Combines AI Infrastructure and Connectivity

Equinix said Inference Exchange will provide enterprises with connectivity to data, users and other parts of their technology ecosystems through Equinix Fabric.

The program integrates Nvidia’s validated Enterprise Reference Architectures with Together AI’s inference platform, which supports more than 200 open-source models, according to the company.

The services will be delivered through Equinix’s global data centre infrastructure.

Equinix announced Inference Exchange at Equinix Horizon, its inaugural customer and partner event. The company also introduced Equinix Fabric One, a service designed to support connectivity across geographically distributed AI environments.

Program Targets Multiple Enterprise AI Applications

Equinix said Inference Exchange is intended to support enterprise inference applications including metro edge inference, migration between open models and sovereign AI deployments for regulated industries.

Under the collaboration, Equinix will provide infrastructure including power, cooling and operational services. Nvidia will provide its Enterprise Reference Architectures and AI infrastructure, while Together AI will operate the inference platform.

The platform will support both multitenant deployments and dedicated single-tenant environments, according to the company.

Equinix Highlights Global Data Centre Network

Equinix operates more than 280 data centres across 77 metropolitan areas, according to the supplied information. Its network includes 230 cloud on-ramps and more than 10,500 interconnected businesses.

The company also said eight of the world’s 10 largest AI model providers and nine of the top 10 AI cloud providers are deployed with Equinix.

These figures describe the company’s existing infrastructure and customer ecosystem but do not establish the level of future adoption or revenue that Inference Exchange may generate.

Inference Exchange Availability Planned for Early 2027

Equinix said Inference Exchange is scheduled to become available beginning in the first quarter of 2027.

No financial terms for the collaboration or revenue expectations associated with the program were provided in the supplied information.

The 2% movement in Equinix shares occurred following the announcement, although the supplied information does not establish the extent to which the program launch was responsible for the stock’s gain.
