Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) launched new event-planning features on Thursday that allow Snapchat users to organise gatherings, send invitations and manage responses within the app.
The new Snapchat Plans feature is designed for organising activities ranging from birthday parties to study sessions. Snap said about a third of young Snapchat users in the U.S. make plans through group chats and direct messages.
Users can create a Snapchat Plan by entering a title, selecting a date and time and inviting up to 200 friends. Events can also be customised with dynamic cover artwork using Bitmoji.
Invitations are delivered through individual chats with invited users, who can respond with Going, Maybe or Can’t Go.
Snapchat Adds Tools for Managing Events
A new My Plans section on user profiles provides access to current, upcoming and previous Snapchat Plans. An Our Plans section within Friendship Profiles displays events shared between specific friends.
Hosts can see who plans to attend, invite additional users and change event details. Guests can view the complete guest list and modify their response at any time.
Snapchat will also send attendees a reminder one hour before an event is scheduled to begin.
