Nuscale Stock Slumps After Downgrade, Price Target Cut

By Patrick Martin | September 11, 2026, 9:25 AM

Nuscale Power Corp (NYSE:SMR) stock looks poised to sit out the broad market rally today, after UBS downgraded the company to "sell" from "neutral." The analyst in coverage also trimmed its price target to $6 from $10, citing murky construction timelines and a lack of customer commitments.

SMR is down 4%, heading for a third-straight loss. Sector peer Oklo (OKLO) is lower as well, down 2.5% this morning. More analysts could follow UBS, with 10 of the 18 brokerages in coverage maintaining "hold" ratings.

Nuscale stock is down 28% in 2026 and 70% in the last 12 months. A confluence of moving averages have guided the shares lower all year, culminating in a July 17 record low of $7.21.

Now looks like a great time to weigh in with options. The stock's Schaeffer's Volatility Index (SVI) of 88% sits in the 13th percentile of annual readings, suggesting options traders are pricing in low volatility expectations.
