Nokia (NYSE:NOK) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) are expanding their partnership to develop a unified data platform designed to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption and network automation among telecommunications operators.
The collaboration combines Nokia Data Suite with Microsoft Fabric, bringing together telecommunications data management, analytics and AI capabilities.
According to Nokia, the integrated solution could allow operators to access network data within minutes rather than weeks, reducing the time required for data preparation and integration.
The initiative builds on the companies’ existing collaboration in cloud computing, data management, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Integrated Platform Combines Nokia Data Suite and Microsoft Fabric
Nokia Data Suite provides prebuilt telecommunications data products, semantic modelling and data quality controls.
Microsoft Fabric contributes its OneLake storage infrastructure and analytics capabilities, alongside AI applications including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Foundry and Power BI.
The companies aim to establish a unified data foundation that allows telecommunications operators to use information from different network systems more efficiently.
Silvia Candiani, Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Telco & Media at Microsoft, highlighted the importance of reliable data and governance in deploying AI across telecommunications networks.
“Telecom providers are ready to move AI from experimentation into everyday network operations, but that requires trusted data, strong governance and platforms that can scale,” Candiani said.
Solution Supports Automated Network Management
The integrated solution is available now and is designed to operate across multi-vendor telecommunications networks and different network domains.
It supports hybrid, cloud-based and on-premises deployments, allowing operators to use the technology across different infrastructure configurations.
Initial applications include autonomous service assurance for voice over new radio, geographic analysis of radio access network performance, predictive maintenance and fault management.
The companies said the platform supports closed-loop network operations, in which monitoring and analysis can trigger automated responses, as well as automated identification of the underlying causes of network problems.
These capabilities are designed to operate with human oversight and within defined governance requirements.
“Nokia and Microsoft are bringing the right data, at the right time, for the right reason to telecom operators worldwide,” said Vivek Jaiswal, Senior Vice President, Autonomous Networks at Nokia.
The expanded partnership is intended to help telecommunications providers move from experimental AI applications towards wider use of automation in routine network operations.
