The Week Ahead: PMI Data, Costco Earnings Due

By Emma Duncan | September 17, 2026, 1:00 PM

September is looking to wind down as investors move past interest rate buzz, with next week composed mostly of a collection of employment data, the purchasing managers' index (PMI) readings, and new home sales numbers. A handful of earnings will trickle in as well, including AutoZone (AZO), BlackBerry (BB), Costco Wholesale (COST), Darden Restaurants (DRI), General Mills (GIS), KB Home (KBH), and Stitch Fix (SFIX).

Below is the schedule of key market events for the week ahead. All economic dates are tentative and subject to change.

Monday, September 21 will kick the week off on a quiet note, with no economic data scheduled.

The weekly ADP private sector employment change report will be released on Tuesday, September 22. Richmond Fed President Thomas Barkin is scheduled to speak.

All eyes will be on the U.S. flash manufacturing and services PMI on Wednesday, September 23.

Thursday, September 24, will bring weekly jobs data, building permits, and August's new home sales data.

You can expect durable goods data and the University of Michigan's final consumer survey results on Friday, September 25.
