CGI and D-Wave Quantum Partner on Enterprise Quantum Computing Applications

By Fiona Craig | September 23, 2026, 8:06 AM

CGI (NYSE:GIB) and D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE:QBTS) have entered into a strategic partnership focused on developing enterprise applications for quantum computing across sectors including logistics, transportation and retail.

The agreement expands on more than a year of collaboration between the companies, according to a joint announcement.

Under the partnership, CGI will incorporate D-Wave’s quantum computing technology into its advanced technology services portfolio, including the Advantage2 quantum computer and the company’s hybrid solvers.

Transportation and Rail Applications Planned

The companies plan to develop quantum-enabled applications for transportation and rail operations.

Potential uses include train scheduling, rail network and yard operations and resource allocation.

CGI and D-Wave also intend to work on retail applications involving supply chain planning, delivery routing and workforce scheduling.

The partnership is intended to allow enterprise customers to identify and test potential applications of quantum computing before considering wider deployment.

“Organizations are moving beyond research to evaluate where quantum technologies can improve optimization and enhance decision-making,” said Dave Henderson, Chief Technology Officer at CGI. “Through our partnership with D-Wave, CGI is helping clients identify high-value use cases, and to validate them through practical experimentation and broader enterprise adoption.”

Companies Target Enterprise Deployment

Lorenzo Martinelli, chief revenue officer at D-Wave, said the companies intend to combine D-Wave’s technology with CGI’s industry and implementation capabilities.

Martinelli said the partnership would provide organisations with “a clear path from exploration to production and measurable business value.”

CGI, which was founded in 1976, reported revenue of CA$15.91 billion for fiscal 2025 and employs approximately 94,000 consultants and professionals globally.

D-Wave offers quantum computing systems based on both annealing and gate-model approaches and describes itself as the only quantum computing company currently offering both platforms.
