Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings and revenue above analyst estimates, with higher comparable sales and growth in digitally enabled transactions.
The warehouse retailer reported earnings per share of $6.75 for the quarter, compared with the consensus estimate of $6.55.
Revenue reached $95.7 billion, exceeding the analyst estimate of $94.85 billion.
Net sales for the 16-week fourth quarter increased 11.2% to $93.9 billion from $84.4 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier.
Costco’s adjusted earnings of $6.75 per share included a non-recurring benefit of $0.15 per share from IEEPA tariff refunds received during the quarter, partly offset by the reinvestment of some of those refunds in increased value for members.
The shares initially rose 0.3% following the results and were subsequently down 0.2% in premarket trading on Friday.
Comparable Sales Increase 9.4%
Costco reported a 9.4% increase in fourth-quarter comparable sales on a reported basis.
Excluding the effects of changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange rates, comparable sales increased 6.7%, compared with an analyst estimate of 6.44%.
US comparable sales rose 10.7% on a reported basis and 7.2% after adjustments for gasoline prices and foreign exchange.
Comparable sales in Canada increased 5.0%, or 4.6% on an adjusted basis. Other international markets recorded comparable sales growth of 7.0%, or 6.2% after adjustments.
Digitally Enabled Sales Rise 19.5%
Costco’s digitally enabled sales increased 19.5% during the fourth quarter.
On an adjusted basis, which excludes the effects of gasoline price and foreign exchange movements, digitally enabled sales increased 19.8%.
The increase exceeded the growth rates reported for the company’s overall comparable sales during the period.
Fourth-Quarter Net Income Approaches $3 Billion
Costco reported fourth-quarter net income of $2.998 billion, compared with $2.610 billion in the same period of the previous year.
For the full fiscal year ended August 30, 2026, net sales increased 10.1% to $297.2 billion from $269.9 billion in the prior year.
Full-year net income rose to $9.226 billion, equivalent to $20.76 per diluted share, from $8.099 billion, or $18.21 per diluted share, in fiscal 2025.
