MongoDB (NASDAQ:MDB) shares fell 15% on Monday after President and Chief Executive Officer Chirantan “CJ” Desai resigned with immediate effect to take a newly created role at Meta Platforms (NASDAQ).
Desai will become Meta’s Chief Enterprise Platform Officer, reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg.
Following Desai’s departure, MongoDB appointed former CEO Dev Ittycheria as interim chief executive while its board conducts a search for a permanent successor.
Desai to Lead Meta Enterprise Platform
Zuckerberg confirmed Desai’s appointment in a post on X and announced the creation of the Meta Enterprise Platform.
The new division is intended to provide Meta’s artificial intelligence technology, including Muse, Meta Business Agent and Muse Code, to businesses and developers.
“We believe superintelligence will create significant new opportunities for all people and businesses,” Zuckerberg said. “To lead this effort, I’m excited that Chirantan ’CJ’ Desai will join Meta as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer, reporting directly to me.”
Zuckerberg also cited Desai’s previous experience at Cloudflare and ServiceNow, describing him as a leader with a “track record of building full-stack software and delivering results in AI” who could help businesses “grow and transform in new ways.”
