U.S. stock futures moved higher on Tuesday following gains in the previous session, while investors assessed Gulf oil export data and awaited quarterly results from Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ) and August U.S. trade figures.
At 03:09 ET, Dow futures were up 170 points, or 0.3%, while S&P 500 futures gained 12 points, or 0.2%. Nasdaq 100 futures rose 36 points, or 0.1%.
The main Wall Street indices advanced on Monday, with the Nasdaq Composite closing at a record high. Oil prices also declined, while expectations for Federal Reserve monetary policy remained in focus.
Services-sector data showed that prices paid by companies in September reached their highest level since 2022, according to the supplied material. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield subsequently reached its highest level in more than two decades.
Investors were also monitoring sovereign debt markets outside the U.S. Deutsche Bank analysts said there were “initial signs that the pressure on France was stabilizing, with a clear outperformance in French debt.”
Oil exports from the Gulf exceeded levels recorded before the start of the Iran war for 14 days during September, according to Kpler shipping data cited by Reuters.
The seven-day moving average for regional crude exports stood at 18.3 million barrels per day on 30 September.
The figures indicated that crude continued to leave the region despite risks to commercial shipping. According to the supplied material, Iran largely closed the Strait of Hormuz following the outbreak of the war, affecting a route that had previously carried approximately one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas flows.
The conflict has also affected other parts of the region, including Yemen and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Vital Knowledge analysts said that the volume of oil leaving the Middle East was “fairly healthy considering all the turmoil,” while the cost of transporting a barrel through Hormuz was “substantially higher than before the war.”
The analysts said higher transportation costs were likely to keep prices paid by end customers elevated. This represents Vital Knowledge’s assessment rather than a confirmed future outcome.
Brent crude futures were down 0.8% at $99.53 per barrel.
Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ) is scheduled to report its latest quarterly results after Tuesday’s closing bell.
Bloomberg consensus estimates indicate comparable operating profit of $872.3 million on comparable net sales of $2.53 billion.
In June, Constellation Brands reported fiscal first-quarter profit above expectations and maintained its fiscal 2027 adjusted earnings-per-share guidance of $11.20 to $11.90.
The supplied material said analysts had identified the FIFA World Cup and lower oil prices at the time as factors supporting demand. These observations represent analysts’ assessments rather than statements of confirmed causation by the company.
U.S. trade figures for August are also due to be released on Tuesday.
The U.S. trade deficit increased 24.4% to $88.6 billion in July, according to data from the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis and Census Bureau cited in the supplied material.
Imports increased 2.8% to $399.3 billion during the month. The supplied material attributed recent import demand partly to consumer spending and expenditure on artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The August figures will provide further information on trade flows during the third quarter.
Separately, Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek is preparing to raise at least 80 billion yuan, or approximately $12 billion, in a funding round backed by Tencent and CATL, Bloomberg News reported.
According to the report, DeepSeek initially sought 50 billion yuan, but the size of the round could increase to as much as 100 billion yuan following investor demand.
Earlier reports cited in the supplied material had valued DeepSeek at approximately $74 billion. Investors are also monitoring potential plans for a public listing.
The funding amounts and potential listing remain reported developments rather than confirmed completed transactions.
