Nasdaq Futures Climb Triple Digits as Tech Pivots Higher

Major indexes are modestly higher to kick off Friday, as the tech sector attempts to pivot off yesterday's selloff. Futures on the Nasdaq-100 Index (NDX) are enjoying a triple digit lead, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) and S&P 500 Index (SPX) are comfortably higher as well. The 10-year Treasury yield has stabilized near 5.24%, after President Donald Trump promised to not attack Iran until after the midterm elections in the U.S. this November. All three indexes are looking to end the week flat or higher.

  1. The Cboe Option Exchange saw roughly 3.1 million call contracts and 2 million put contracts traded on Thursday. The single-session equity put/call ratio rose to 0.64, while the 21-day moving average remained at 0.59. 
  2. Delta Air Lines Inc (NYSE:DAL) stock is down 2.3% ahead of the open, after the company posted a smaller-than-expected third-quarter earnings and revenue. The airliner cited higher fuel costs and slashed its full-year outlook. Despite sporting a 2026 lead of 18.5%, the $84 level and 80-day moving average sit just overhead.
  3. Shares of Lumentum Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:LITE) are climbing 6.3% before the bell, after CEO Michael Hurlston noted meeting demand will be difficult with its components now sold out until the end of 2029. LITE hit a record high of $1,137.20 on Oct. 6 and is up 184% year to date.
  4. Elon Musk's Space Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX) is 3.7% higher in pre-market trading, after the company penned a deal with Grain Management to sell its 800 megahertz spectrum portfolio. SPCX has risen 5.5% over the past three months.
  5. The University of Michigan's preliminary consumer sentiment survey headline Friday.

Asian Stocks Mixed Amid BoJ Concerns

Asian markets finished mostly higher, though the Bank of Japan (BoJ) raised concerns about broadening inflationary pressures. Chinese officials pushed back European policymakers that called for a stronger yuan to cut the trader deficit. The Shanghai composite gained 0.05%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index added 1.8%, while Japan’s Nikkei shed 0.02%. The South Korean Kospi was closed in observance of a holiday.

European bourses are higher as easing crude and gilt yields give traders a breather. Mining stocks are on the rise due to strikes at several copper mining operations. At last glance, London’s FTSE 100 is up 1.2%, while France’s CAC 40 trades 1% higher, and Germany’s DAX leads 1.3%.
