SoFi Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SOFI) is exempt from the AI struggles today, last seen up 2.8% to trade at $14.61. The fintech fell to a 52-week low of $13.86 earlier before pivoting higher, but more struggles on the charts could be ahead thanks to a bearish signal flashing in the options pits.
SOFI sports a 10-day call/put volume ratio of 4.45 at the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Cboe Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX), which stands higher than 90% of readings from the past year. There have been nine instances in the last three years that the equity's 10-day buy-to-open call/put ratio crossed over 1.0 and moved into the 90th percentile.
Per Schaeffer's Senior Quantitative Analyst Rocky White, SoFi was lower one month later 78% of the time after these signals, averaging a 7% loss. A move of similar magnitude would place the stock at its lowest level since June 2025.
Year-to-date, SoFi stock is down 44.3%, with a confluence of moving averages applying pressure. Headwinds could also come from more bearish bets, with short interest up 21% in the two most recent reporting period while the stock has deteriorated.
