Shares of Airbnb Inc (NASDAQ:ABNB) are surging 8% to trade at $184.66 this morning, after the accommodation platform posted a stellar third-quarter report, including its best revenue growth in three years. Earnings of $3.16 per share on revenue of $4.87 billion beat estimates, while its fourth-quarter revenue outlook came in higher-than-expected as well.
ABNB neared its August four-year highs out of the gate, coming within 50 cents of the $193 level. Now up 37% for 2026, the equity is pacing for its best day since Aug. 7 and gapping above $180 for the first since since its early September pullback.
No fewer than 13 brokerage firms have hiked their price target in response, the highest at Oppenheimer to $230 from $210. More bull notes could be on the way, with 16 covering analysts still sporting a "hold" or worse recommendation.
Options traders have been more bearish than usual. At the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Cboe Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX), U's 50-day put/call volume ratio of 1.00 ranks in the 96th percentile of its annual range.
Echoing this, ABNB's Schaeffer's put/call open interest ratio (SOIR) of 1.16 sits just one percentage point from an annual high, suggesting short-term option players have rarely been more put-heavy during the past 12 months. Should this bearish sentiment begin to unwind, it could trigger tailwinds for the shares.
