Alphabet Inc. (GOOG) Carrying Out "Proactive Disruption of Search," Schwab Anchor Says

After Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) earlier this week launched AI Mode, Schwab Network anchor Diane King Hall called the move "a total reimagining of search" by GOOG and a "proactive disruption of search" by the tech giant.

King Hall explained what AI Mode is, discussed why Alphabet is looking to disrupt itself, and noted that the move could have some pitfalls for the firm.

The Anchor's Analysis of Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG)'s AI Mode

AI Mode is an "AI-powered interactive chatbox interactive experience," King Hall said.  Internet search produces a great deal of cash for Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), and the company has been reluctant to "fully embrace" AI because doing so "could put its search business at risk," the anchor explained.

But the firm has to preemptively combat the threat that it's facing from AI, she said.

However, because chatboxes sometimes make major errors, embracing AI also poses "risks" for Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), King Hall said.

Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) "wants to get it right and is looking for a balance between search and AI," the anchor reported.

AI Mode "will initially be ad free," she noted.
