Our new Chart Template feature marks a major step toward delivering a truly personalized experience for our Elite members and a first of its kind tool in our industry.

Step 1: Open an Advanced Chart and click the Settings wheel on the right-hand side ⚙️.
Step 2: Customize your chart's background, colors, indicators, and style (candles, lines, etc.).
Step 3: Save it as a Template and give it a special name.
Step 4: Go to any Stock Page or Screener Chart to see your Template in action.
What Are Templates?
Templates on Finviz allow you to fully customize, save, and manage every charting visual across the platform. They capture every visual and technical detail of a chart and let you instantly apply it anywhere on Finviz, including:
- Chart type (candles, OHLC, line, Heikin Ashi)
- Indicators (SMA 20 / 50 / 200, RSI, etc.)
- Colors (candles, wicks, volume, background)
- Layout and visual feel
- Extended hours, events, overlays
Once saved to your profile, your Chart Template becomes a repeatable environment you can load up at any time. Most users see charts with default settings across our platform. Now, as an Elite member, can define your own standard and apply it everywhere.
For example, if running a screen and looking at charts within that screen, you'll see our standard visuals:

Templates Everywhere on Finviz
Templates don’t just live on one full-screen chart. They propagate across your workflow everywhere on Finviz, including the screener as shown earlier in this post and also stock symbol pages. We created a new Chart Template and now our Berkshire Hathaway page looks like this:
The best traders, the top investors, don’t look at markets the same way all the time. They build a Template for their needs, and then load it up where needed.
When you're ready to create your first template, here's some inspiration you utilize. Each of these examples demonstrates a Chart Template, its purpose, title, and settings:
1. Long-Term Investor Template
- Line chart or clean candles
- 50 / 200 SMA
- Minimal indicators
- Neutral colors (black/white or soft tones)
Focus: trend, structure, patience.
2. Swing Trading Template
- Candles + RSI
- 20 / 50 / 200 SMA
- Clean but informative
Focus: multi-day setups, pullbacks, continuation.
3. Calm / Decision Template
- Muted colors (blue, gray, soft tones)
- Minimal overlays
- Clean background
Focus: reducing noise and emotional bias.
