Hesai Group (NASDAQ:HSAI) shares moved higher Wednesday after the lidar maker unveiled a major regional distribution partnership. The stock gave up most of its gains during the regular trading session.
Hesai announced a strategic cooperation with Grab Holdings Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRAB).
What The Deal Covers
Under the agreement, Grab will act as Hesai’s exclusive distributor across Southeast Asia. Grab will manage sales, customer engagement and marketing for Hesai’s lidar sensors throughout the region.
The partnership expands access to lidar hardware for robotics, automation and autonomous systems. Hesai gains regional scale through Grab’s logistics reach and commercial relationships.
The distribution agreement targets Southeast Asian markets with rising demand for automation.
Manufacturing, logistics and urban mobility drive interest in advanced sensing technology.
Technology Backbone
Lidar enables machines to perceive depth and navigate complex environments. The technology plays a critical role in robotics, mapping and autonomous mobility systems.
Grab views the partnership as foundational for physical automation.
“By expanding access to world-class lidar technology in Southeast Asia, Grab is doing more than improving our own autonomous mobility and mapping capabilities; we are providing the essential ‘eyes’ that allow robotics to ‘see’ and navigate safely, thus ensuring that 3D intelligence can be made accessible and scaled to every industry across our region,” said Anthony Tan, Group CEO and co-founder of Grab.
Hesai plans to accelerate large-scale adoption of lidar across commercial applications.
“The Southeast Asian market has shown strong demand across manufacturing, logistics, and service robots,” said David Li, CEO and co-founder.
Li said the partnership with Grab will align Hesai’s lidar technology with local market needs and speed broader adoption across robotics applications.
Price Action: Hesai Gr shares were up 0.29% at $24.04 and Grab Holdings shares were down 1.99% at $4.18 at the time of publication on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
