EXCLUSIVE: Could Prediction Markets Become Bigger Than Sports Betting? High Roller CEO Sees 'Meaningful' Financial Role Ahead

By Surbhi Jain | February 27, 2026, 11:47 AM

Prediction markets are often grouped with sports betting, but Seth Young, CEO of High Roller Technologies Inc's (AMEX:ROLR), believes that framing may be too narrow.

In an exclusive email interview with Benzinga, Young describes the space as sitting at the convergence of finance, technology and information — and says that combination has historically produced "durable market infrastructure."

Rather than calling it a rival to traditional exchanges, he says they could become a “meaningful and lasting part of the financial landscape.”

Young sees structural expansion ahead.

Beyond Sports And Politics

"We think prediction markets represent a large and genuinely exciting opportunity," Young said. "If you step back, they reflect a broader evolution in financial markets."

He emphasized breadth.

"One of the things that makes prediction markets so compelling is their breadth," he said. "They provide a transparent way for people to express expectations about future events."

That scope could expand into macroeconomic trends and other real-world developments as the market matures.

"The structural opportunity is broad," Young added.

Complement — Not Rival — To Exchanges

Young rejected the idea of rivalry with traditional exchanges.

"Traditional exchanges price companies and assets. Prediction markets reflect expectations about future events," he said.

As participation broadens, he believes prediction markets could become "an important part of how markets price what lies ahead."

That positioning matters. Instead of replacing exchanges or sportsbooks, prediction markets could influence sentiment, signal expectations and complement capital markets infrastructure.

If adoption accelerates, the category may evolve into more than a betting vertical.

It may become embedded in how markets interpret the future.
