Roku, Inc. (NASDAQ:ROKU) announced on Tuesday that it expanded its streaming partnership with X Games through a new multi-year rights agreement.
The deal will bring the upcoming MoonPay X Games League exclusively to Roku Sports Channel in the United States.
The expanded arrangement introduces the new professional, team-based competition format planned for the action sports brand.
The new league will stream live events nationwide at no cost to viewers through Roku Sports Channel.
Audience Growth Driving The Deal
Roku and X Games reported strong audience momentum over the past two years. Roku delivered 149% year-over-year growth during the latest X Games Aspen event.
That performance exceeded overall TV platform growth of 105% during the same period. The platform also reported that 91% of households streaming the event represented new viewers.
Female viewership also surged significantly during the latest broadcast cycle. Roku reported a 233% year-over-year increase in female viewers during the Aspen event.
Streaming Rights Expansion
Roku will begin broadcasting the MoonPay X Games League starting with its inaugural summer season in 2026. The league’s first winter competition will follow in 2027 as part of the streaming agreement.
Roku Sports Channel will carry full live coverage for every scheduled event. Fans will also watch the first MoonPay X Games League Draft live from the COSM venue in Los Angeles.
New League Structure
Organizers designed the new competition format around global teams competing across several action sports disciplines. The lineup includes skateboarding, BMX, snowboarding and skiing.
The league will feature both men’s and women’s competitions across multiple seasonal events. Organizers plan structured seasons, team ownership and drafts to modernize the X Games competition model.
Joe Franzetta, head of sports at Roku Media, highlighted the partnership’s momentum and future potential. He said, “We’re proud of the partnership we have already built with X Games, bringing these exhilarating competitions to millions of homes and helping new fans discover this iconic sports league.”
Franzetta added, “We look forward to collaborating further to bring this exciting new format to die-hard viewers and a new generation of fans.”
Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games, emphasized the league’s digital-first approach to sports distribution. He said, “Our audience is young, digital, and streaming-first. Roku has proven it can grow that audience in a meaningful way. Expanding this partnership around MoonPay X Games League is a strong signal of where our business is headed and the momentum behind the league.”
