Anduril's Latest Acquisition Signals Growing Race for U.S. Space Missile Defense Contracts

Defense tech firm Anduril said it will buy ExoAnalytic Solutions, a firm that tracks objects in space and builds tools for missile defense. The deal was shared on Wednesday, but the firms did not share the price.

First, the move adds a large space sensor network to Anduril’s work in AI-based defense tech. In fact, ExoAnalytic runs more than 400 telescope systems around the world. These tools track many objects in orbit and help spot missile threats.

Furthermore, the deal may help Anduril seek work in a etfs">new U.S. missile shield plan known as Golden Dome. The plan aims to build a space layer that can stop ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missiles.

So far, many firms have tried to win a role in the project. Anduril was one of the firms that won a small deal last November tied to space-based interceptors.

A Global Space Tracking Network

ExoAnalytic grew from early work on missile defense math into a firm that runs a large global sensor net. Today, its telescope grid gives a near-real-time view of deep space and tracks many objects in orbit. The firm also builds tools used in key U.S. space and missile defense programs. These tools help model threats and track launches.

As part of the deal, Anduril will add this sensor net and data flow to its own tech stack. The firm builds AI tools for command and control and for battlefield use. Gokul Subramanian, senior vice president of engineering at Anduril, said the deal will speed up its space goals. “We expect this acquisition to enable us to tap into those capabilities more and more,” he said.

Growing Push Into Space Defense

The deal marks the first buy by Anduril under its space unit and the 11th deal in its wider growth plan. Now the firm aims to link ExoAnalytic’s space data with its own tools for sensing, tracking, and fire control. This mix could help Anduril build a full chain from space sensor to missile response.

At the same time, the push comes as the U.S. puts more focus on space-based defense systems. As a result, firms across the sector are developing tools to track threats early and guide missile defense. For now, the deal must still pass regulatory review before it can close.
