Planet Launches Pelican-11, Paving the Way for Its Next-Generation High-Resolution Satellite Fleet

Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL) said it successfully launched the Pelican-11, its demonstration satellite part of the second generation of the high-resolution Pelican fleet.

The spacecraft will orbit aboard the Transporter-17 rideshare mission with SpaceX from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, the company stated. Planet also said it made initial contact with the satellite and started the commissioning process.

Pelican-11 will allow faster hardware testing and calibration in the space environment and will contribute to the seamless scaling of production fleets, Planet stated.

The company expects to continue launching additional Pelican spacecrafts over the next year to increase its high-resolution, AI-powered monitoring capacity and meet growing global customer demand, it said.
