Monster Beverage stock downgraded by Deutsche Bank as valuation limits upside

By Fiona Craig | July 20, 2026, 10:12 AM

Monster Beverage (NASDAQ:MNST) was downgraded to Hold from Buy by Deutsche Bank, with analysts arguing that the energy drink maker’s recent share price rally has left limited room for further gains despite the company’s continued operational strength.

The brokerage also increased its price target to $98 but noted that the revised target represents only around 1% upside from current levels. According to the analysts, much of Monster’s strong execution is already reflected in the stock price, leaving investors with a less attractive risk-reward profile.

Deutsche Bank sees limited upside despite strong execution

The analysts said the downgrade was driven by valuation rather than any deterioration in the company’s underlying business.

While Deutsche Bank continues to view Monster Beverage as a high-quality operator, it warned that weaker-than-expected performance in category growth, retail sales, international expansion, pricing or profit margins could trigger a more meaningful correction in the shares.

The bank believes investors are already pricing in optimistic expectations, meaning the company may need to significantly outperform current forecasts to generate additional upside.

Long-term outlook remains positive

Despite the more cautious rating, Deutsche Bank maintained a favourable long-term outlook for Monster Beverage and said its earnings forecasts for fiscal 2026 and 2027 remain above broader Wall Street expectations.

The analysts highlighted several factors supporting the company’s long-term growth, including continued global demand for energy drinks, a strong pipeline of new products across the United States and Europe, improving revenue management initiatives, steady international expansion and increasing momentum in markets such as India and China.

Deutsche Bank added that Monster’s recent stock outperformance has been justified by its business performance, although the current valuation now limits the potential for further gains.
