Hydrofarm Holdings Group (NASDAQ:HYFM) has completed the $16 million sale of Aurora Peat Products and introduced Project Agility, a new initiative aimed at expanding its logistics services platform while simplifying operations and reducing debt.
Hydrofarm announced the completion of the divestiture of Aurora Peat Products to Raven Holdings for $16 million. The transaction includes a $5 million promissory note, with the remaining proceeds expected to be used to reduce the company’s outstanding term loan debt.
The sale also removes the capital requirements associated with owning and operating peat harvesting assets while allowing Hydrofarm to retain access to Aurora Peat’s products through a long-term supply agreement. Under the arrangement, Aurora Peat will continue supplying peat products to Hydrofarm’s grow media business, while Hydrofarm will continue distributing Aurora Peat’s consumer gardening products.
Alongside the divestiture, the company introduced Project Agility, an initiative designed to expand its logistics services platform by leveraging its existing distribution network and operational capabilities.
The Aurora Peat sale represents another step in Hydrofarm’s broader effort to streamline its operations and strengthen its balance sheet. Applying the proceeds toward debt reduction could improve financial flexibility while lowering financing obligations.
The company is also shifting resources toward higher-priority areas, including its proprietary controlled environment agriculture product portfolio and logistics services business. Although management noted that logistics currently contributes only a small share of operating results, the initiative suggests Hydrofarm is seeking to diversify revenue sources by utilizing its existing distribution infrastructure.
Maintaining an ongoing supply relationship with Aurora Peat also allows Hydrofarm to continue offering peat-based products without owning the underlying production assets, potentially reducing operational complexity while preserving product availability.
