As the afternoon noise subsides and we head into the second half of the session, catch up on what’s driving the conversation. Join us for a quick look at some of the biggest trends shaping Wall Street right now:
Meta Takedown Continues in Cali
Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) is sliding 3.8% this afternoon, as the tech behemoth remains under fire for its impact on children and teenagers. After a loss in New Mexico two weeks ago, this trial includes 29 state attorneys in a unified case.
META has suffered on the charts since climbing to a record high just shy of $800 last year, now off 14% for 2026. The $600 level has rejected numerous breakout attempts over the past week.
Investors Can't Get Enough AI
As earnings season winds down and not much remains on the docket this week, investors are turning to artificial intelligence to fill the gaps. The AI sector is enjoying a Monday surge, with the likes of Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU) getting an additional boost from news that Apple (AAPL) won't be permitted to buy memory chips from Chinese manufacturers.
A frequent flyer on Google Trends, MU was last seen up 4.8% as it enjoys a 260% gain for 2026. Today's jump is also pushing the shares for a close above the round $1,000 mark for the first time since early July.
SpaceX Continues to Make Noise
We can't seem to shake Space Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX) or Elon Musk. Today the shares are ushering in a healthy 5.7% gain, extending the stock's pivot off early August lows. Musk's latest project has managed to climb 20% so far in August.
Saturday, Musk said he expects SpaceX to hit a recurring annual revenue of $100 billion by the end of 2026 and $1 trillion by the end of 2030. Aided by data center builds and a fresh deals with Alphabet (GOOGL) and Anthropic, the AI darling looks poised to keep its promises.
