Nvidia Earnings Give Nasdaq Futures a Boost

By Laura McCandless | August 27, 2026, 9:11 AM

Stock futures are mixed this morning, with Nasdaq-100 Index (NDX) futures up triple digits after Nvidia's (NVDA) latest earnings report. The chip giant beat expectations and forecast 70% revenue growth for fiscal 2028, well above the 44% analysts anticipated. S&P 500 Index (SPX) futures are also higher, while Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) futures sit modestly lower.

Software stocks are getting an earnings boost as well, while Politico reported the White House is considering a fresh round of tariffs targeting the semiconductor sector. Meanwhile, initial jobless claims fell by 4,000 to 203,000 last week.

5 Things You Need to Know Today

  1. The Cboe Option Exchange saw roughly 1.8 million call contracts and 1.2 million put contracts traded on Wednesday. The single-session equity put/call ratio rose to 0.64, while the 21-day moving average remained at 0.59.
  2. Shares of Dollar General Corp (NYSE:DG) are up 7.9% premarket, after the discount retailer posted better-than-expected second-quarter earnings, revenue, and lifted its full-year and third-quarter guidance. Should these gains hold, DG will break into positive territory for 2026.
  3. Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) is riding a post-earnings surge of its own, up 10.6% before the bell. The company posted strong second-quarter results, boosted by AI growth and its increasingly valuable stake in Anthropic, and lifted its annual forecast. CRM is heading into today with a 22.4% year-to-date deficit.
  4. HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) is down 12.5% in electronic trading, after the hardware name reported that its PC ‌unit shipments and margins declined in the third quarter as price increases to offset rising memory chip costs. The shares are brushing off second-quarter earnings and revenue that beat estimates, as well as a strong full-year outlook.
