Barrick Mining Corporation (NYSE:B) shares gained 1.2% to $43.06 in pre-market trading following the initiation of coverage with a Buy rating, as gold prices recovered above $4,300 per ounce.
The new analyst recommendation coincided with a price target revision from Bernstein, which lowered its target for Barrick to $56.50 from $61.
Both developments came as the gold and copper producer’s shares traded within their reported 52-week range of $29.08 to $54.69.
The source of the newly issued Buy rating was not identified in the announcement.
Bernstein Reduces Price Target to $56.50
Bernstein revised its price target for Barrick down to $56.50, compared with its previous estimate of $61.
The revised target remains above the company’s pre-market share price of $43.06, although it represents a reduction in the firm’s valuation estimate.
Separately, Barrick reported that second-quarter 2026 net earnings increased by approximately 50% compared with the same period a year earlier.
The earnings improvement provides additional context for the latest analyst commentary, although the company did not announce new financial guidance in the information provided.
Gold Prices Recover Above $4,300 an Ounce
Gold prices moved back above $4,300 per ounce as the recent increase in oil prices lost momentum, easing some inflation-related concerns affecting precious metals.
The recovery followed the Federal Reserve’s decision to raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to a target range of 3.75%–4.00%.
The move marked the central bank’s first rate increase in three years. Policymakers also indicated the possibility of another increase before the end of 2026.
Higher interest rates and a stronger US dollar can place pressure on gold prices, while movements in bullion directly affect the revenue and profitability of gold producers such as Barrick.
The partial recovery in gold provided a more supportive commodity market backdrop for mining shares during the session.
Broader US Equity Markets Advance
Major US equity indices also recorded gains following the Federal Reserve’s announcement.
The S&P 500 rose 0.9%, the Dow Jones gained 0.8% and the Nasdaq advanced 1.1%.
Barrick’s pre-market increase followed the new Buy recommendation, Bernstein’s revised price target and the recovery in gold prices.
At $43.06, the stock remained below its reported 52-week high of $54.69, with future performance dependent in part on commodity prices, operating results and broader market conditions.
