Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW) has introduced Unit 42 Continuous Frontier AI Defense, a cybersecurity service designed to identify vulnerabilities and provide remediation guidance through continuous AI-powered testing.
The service combines AI models from Anthropic and OpenAI within a proprietary multi-model system, allowing different security tasks to be assigned to the model considered most suitable.
According to the company, the offering is intended to help organisations identify and address security exposures across their technology infrastructure without relying solely on periodic assessments.
Unit 42 Continuous Frontier AI Defense incorporates Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 and OpenAI’s GPT-5.6-Cyber models.
The models operate through a proprietary multi-model harness that routes security tasks according to their requirements.
The service provides continuous vulnerability testing and attack-path validation across web applications, application programming interfaces (APIs), cloud infrastructure, source code repositories and network assets.
It also generates prioritised remediation guidance to help security teams determine which identified exposures require attention.
Palo Alto Networks describes the offering as an agentic offensive security service, using AI to automate elements of security testing and exposure analysis.
Palo Alto Networks said the service was developed over six months of internal testing and more than 100 customer engagements, supported by a $17 million research and development investment.
During an internal deployment, the company reported that the system identified a year’s worth of security exposures within three weeks.
In customer assessments, exposures were identified in 100% of cases, with 37% classified as high or critical severity.
The company also reported that more than two-thirds of exposures discovered in third-party applications had no known Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) designation.
These figures reflect Palo Alto Networks’ reported testing and customer assessment results rather than independently verified performance across all enterprise environments.
Continuous Frontier AI Defense builds on Unit 42’s Frontier AI Defense offering, which launched in April.
The earlier service provided point-in-time exposure analysis, while the new product introduces continuous testing intended to identify security weaknesses as systems and applications change.
In August, Palo Alto Networks announced plans to incorporate OpenAI’s GPT-5.6-Cyber and Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 into the existing offering.
The latest launch extends that integration into a subscription-based service combining multiple AI models with ongoing vulnerability assessments and remediation recommendations.
Sam Rubin, Senior Vice President of Unit 42, said the increasing use of AI by attackers was creating new challenges for enterprise security teams.
“AI has created an asymmetric advantage for threat actors against organizations trying to defend at human speed. Modern cybersecurity requires machine-speed defense.”
The company said continuous testing is intended to help organisations detect exposures more frequently and prioritise remediation before weaknesses can be exploited.
Unit 42 Continuous Frontier AI Defense is available worldwide through an annual subscription.
Pricing varies according to the AI models selected, although Palo Alto Networks did not disclose specific subscription costs.
All subscription tiers include access to the proprietary multi-model harness architecture.
The launch expands Palo Alto Networks’ AI-based security portfolio with a service focused on continuous exposure identification, attack-path testing and remediation guidance.
