Vertical Aerospace (NYSE:EVTL) has appointed Clyde M. Woltman to its Board of Directors, effective October 5, 2026.
Woltman previously served as chief executive of Leonardo Helicopters US, where he oversaw a $1 billion business covering sales, engineering, certification, production, customer support and research and development across the Americas.
His responsibilities also included US Government and Foreign Military Sales programmes globally.
Woltman Brings Aerospace and Defence Experience
Before joining Leonardo, Woltman held senior positions at Aerojet Rocketdyne, which is now part of L3Harris Technologies, and Pratt & Whitney.
His experience included work on defence and aerospace programmes, including the F135 propulsion system used by the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
Woltman is also a retired US Marine Corps Colonel and held command roles during combat operations.
Vertical Aerospace chief executive Stuart Simpson said the appointment reflects the company’s focus on “disciplined execution, expanding our platform across hybrid-electric, autonomous and defence applications.”
Board Changes Follow Appointment of Fabrice Brégier as Chair
Woltman’s appointment follows the addition of former Airbus Commercial Aircraft chief executive Fabrice Brégier, who was appointed Chair of Vertical Aerospace’s Board.
Separately, directors Carsten Stendevad and James Keith Brown have given notice of their intention to resign from the Board.
Both departures are due to take effect on October 5, 2026.
