2 Stocks Drawing Bearish Options Activity Today

By Laura McCandless | October 08, 2026, 11:23 AM
Options traders are taking a bearish stance on two stocks attracting unusual volume today: Pacira BioSciences Inc (NASDAQ:PCRX) and Ring Energy Inc (NYSEAMERICAN:REI). Both equities are trading higher, however, amid separate catalysts.

Pacira Stock Soars on $1.65B Buyout

PCRX stock is surging 44% to trade at $36.30, after Viatris (VTRS) agreed to acquire the pharmaceutical company for $36.50 per share in cash, valuing the deal at approximately $1.65 billion. Options volume is running at a staggering 166.1 times the usual intraday amount, with 2,702 contracts exchanged so far. Despite the rally, options activity is leaning bearish, with negative delta volume equivalent to 2,770 shares outweighing positive delta volume of 1,726 shares.

Crude Oil Stock, Prices Rise

REI stock is up 3.4% to trade at $1.38, as oil prices climb amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and concerns over potential U.S. strikes on Iran are fueling supply worries, with Brent crude futures rising above $104 per barrel. Options traders are taking a more pessimistic stance, however, with 15,067 contracts exchanged so far, or 9.3 times the usual intraday volume. Bearish delta volume accounts for 86.8% of the activity measured, resulting in a net negative delta volume equivalent to 2,698 shares.
