Mobileye Shares Rise 4.3% as Citi Initiates Coverage With Buy Rating and $11 Price Target

By Fiona Craig | October 16, 2026, 8:31 AM

Mobileye Global (NASDAQ:MBLY) shares advanced 4.3% in premarket trading on Friday, 16 October 2026, after Citi initiated coverage of the autonomous driving technology company with a Buy rating and an $11 price target.

Citi analyst Michael Ward identified the automotive industry’s continued investment in vehicle safety and automated driving technology as a potential source of long-term growth for Mobileye.

The positive assessment came despite Morgan Stanley reducing its own price target for Mobileye to $9 from $10 while maintaining an Equal Weight rating.

Mobileye shares traded at approximately $7.75 following the advance, with investors also looking ahead to the company’s third-quarter earnings announcement scheduled for 29 October.

Citi Initiates Mobileye Coverage With $11 Price Target

Citi began coverage of Mobileye with a Buy recommendation, highlighting the company’s established position in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and its expansion into autonomous driving technologies.

Analyst Michael Ward said continued improvements in vehicle safety would remain an important priority for automotive manufacturers over the coming decade.

“The global auto industry will continue to find ways to improve vehicle safety, and autonomous technology is at the forefront of improvement over the next decade,” Ward said.

He also highlighted Mobileye’s experience in developing technologies designed to assist drivers and support increasingly automated vehicle functions.

Mobileye “has been a global leader in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for 25 years and has extended into autonomous driving technologies,” Ward added.

Citi’s assessment suggests that Mobileye could benefit from continued investment by vehicle manufacturers in systems designed to improve safety and increase driving automation.

The $11 price target represents approximately 42% potential upside from the reported share price of $7.75, although the target reflects Citi’s assessment rather than a guaranteed future valuation.

Morgan Stanley Lowers Mobileye Price Target to $9

The positive recommendation from Citi coincided with a more cautious assessment from Morgan Stanley.

Morgan Stanley reduced its Mobileye price target to $9 from $10 on Friday morning while retaining its Equal Weight rating.

The revised target represents a reduction of 10% from the investment bank’s previous valuation.

Despite the downgrade in Morgan Stanley’s price expectation, the new target remained above Mobileye’s reported trading price of $7.75.

The differing assessments illustrate the range of expectations among analysts regarding Mobileye’s future performance and valuation.

While Citi emphasised the company’s potential to benefit from the development of advanced vehicle safety technologies, Morgan Stanley maintained a more neutral investment stance.

The average 12-month analyst price target for Mobileye stood at approximately $11.25, according to the report.

That figure represents roughly 45% potential upside from the reported trading level, although analyst targets are estimates and may change as new financial information becomes available.

Mobileye Positioned in Advanced Driver Assistance Market

Mobileye develops technologies used in advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving applications.

ADAS technology includes functions designed to support drivers by monitoring vehicle surroundings and assisting with selected driving tasks.

More advanced automated driving systems aim to perform additional driving functions under specified operating conditions.

The development of these technologies has become an important area of investment for automotive manufacturers seeking to improve vehicle safety and introduce additional automated capabilities.

Citi’s initiation of coverage reflects its view that this long-term industry trend could support demand for Mobileye’s products and technologies.

The company’s experience in ADAS development and its expansion into autonomous driving were central to the investment bank’s positive assessment.

However, the pace of commercial adoption will depend on vehicle manufacturers’ production plans, technology requirements and the deployment of automated driving systems.

Third-Quarter Earnings Scheduled for 29 October

Mobileye is scheduled to release its third-quarter 2026 financial results on 29 October.

The announcement is expected to provide investors with updated information about unit shipments, customer volumes and new design wins.

Unit shipment figures will offer an indication of demand for Mobileye’s technology across its automotive customer base.

Customer volumes will provide further context about the level of activity among manufacturers incorporating the company’s systems into their vehicles.

Design wins, meanwhile, represent selections of Mobileye technology for vehicle programmes and can provide insight into potential future business opportunities.

Investors will be assessing whether the quarterly results support expectations for improving operating performance.

The earnings announcement may also provide additional information relevant to the price targets recently published by Citi and Morgan Stanley.

Mobileye Outperforms Broader Market in Premarket Trading

Mobileye’s 4.3% premarket advance occurred against a relatively subdued backdrop for major US equity indexes.

The S&P 500 edged approximately 0.1% higher, while the Nasdaq moved slightly into negative territory.

The difference between Mobileye’s performance and the broader market suggests that company-specific developments, particularly Citi’s initiation of coverage, were an important influence on the stock’s movement.

Shares traded around $7.75 following the advance, remaining below their 52-week high of $15.19.

The reported price was approximately 49% below that high, illustrating the extent of the stock’s decline from its previous peak.

Although the gap indicates the shares have traded at substantially higher levels during the past year, it does not establish whether they will return to those prices.

Future performance will depend on the company’s financial results, customer demand and broader market conditions.

Analyst Expectations Remain Above Current Share Price

The latest analyst updates place Mobileye’s reported share price below both Citi’s new target and Morgan Stanley’s revised valuation.

Citi’s $11 target reflects its positive view of the company’s longer-term prospects in advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving technology.

Morgan Stanley’s $9 target indicates a more restrained assessment, despite remaining above the reported market price.

The average analyst target of approximately $11.25 also suggests expectations for a higher valuation over the next 12 months.

However, these forecasts remain subject to changes in the company’s financial performance, automotive industry demand and investor sentiment.

The upcoming third-quarter results will provide an opportunity to assess whether Mobileye’s operating performance is developing in line with those expectations.

Investors Focus on Earnings and Autonomous Driving Growth

Mobileye’s premarket advance followed Citi’s decision to initiate coverage with a Buy rating and an $11 price target.

The positive recommendation was partly offset by Morgan Stanley’s reduction of its price target to $9, although the stock still gained 4.3% in early trading.

The company’s position in advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving remains central to analysts’ assessments of its longer-term growth potential.

With third-quarter results scheduled for 29 October, investors will be monitoring shipment trends, customer demand and new vehicle programme awards.

Those developments will provide further evidence of Mobileye’s commercial performance as automotive manufacturers continue investing in vehicle safety and driving automation technologies.
