Baird Medical Investment Holdings Limited (NASDAQ:BDMD) announced on 19 October 2026 that it had obtained additional medical device registrations in Vietnam and received preliminary regulatory approval in Egypt for its microwave ablation technology.
The developments form part of the company’s efforts to expand the availability of its medical devices in international markets beyond the United States and China.
In Vietnam, Baird Medical received Class C medical device registration certificates covering several microwave ablation products, including equipment used in procedures involving benign thyroid nodules and liver tumours.
In Egypt, the company reported progress towards regulatory registration following preliminary approval granted by the Egyptian Drug Authority in January 2026.
Baird Medical received Class C medical device registration certificates in Vietnam for several products within its microwave ablation portfolio.
The registrations include the company’s J-series microwave ablation needles, which are designed for procedures involving benign thyroid nodules.
They also cover its G-series microwave ablation needles, intended for use in liver tumour treatment procedures.
In addition, the Vietnamese authorities registered the company’s MTI-5AT and MTI-5ET microwave ablation generators.
These generators are used to deliver microwave energy through compatible ablation needles during medical procedures.
Microwave ablation is a minimally invasive technique that uses thermal energy to destroy targeted tissue. The technology is used in certain procedures involving thyroid nodules, liver tumours and other conditions.
The newly announced certificates follow an initial product registration that Baird Medical obtained in Vietnam in January 2026.
The additional registrations expand the range of the company’s devices authorised under Vietnam’s medical device regulatory framework.
Baird Medical also provided an update on the regulatory status of its microwave ablation technology in Egypt.
The company said the Egyptian Drug Authority granted preliminary approval in January 2026 for its BD-GT Microwave Ablation System and related accessories.
The preliminary approval represents an intermediate stage in the regulatory process rather than final authorisation for all products covered by the application.
According to Baird Medical, the development supports its efforts to obtain final registration for the system’s sterile accessories.
The company did not disclose a timetable for completing the remaining regulatory requirements or receiving final approval.
The outcome will depend on the Egyptian Drug Authority’s assessment and the completion of the applicable registration procedures.
Baird Medical’s latest announcements add to its existing medical device registrations in several international markets.
The company reported that it already holds registrations in Argentina, Indonesia and Pakistan.
It also received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its microwave ablation technology in November 2023.
FDA 510(k) clearance is a regulatory pathway under which a medical device is determined to be substantially equivalent to an appropriate legally marketed device.
The clearance allows the relevant device to be marketed in the United States for its authorised intended use, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
Baird Medical’s international registration activities are intended to support the availability of its technology in additional healthcare markets.
However, regulatory authorisation does not necessarily indicate that commercial sales have begun or that distribution arrangements have been completed in each jurisdiction.
The company did not provide revenue forecasts or expected sales contributions associated with the Vietnamese and Egyptian regulatory developments.
Haimei Wu, Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of Baird Medical, commented on the company’s international registration activities.
“Securing medical device registrations in Vietnam and advancing through the regulatory process in Egypt are important steps in expanding the presence of our microwave ablation technology in strategic markets beyond the U.S. and PRC,” Wu said.
The company is pursuing regulatory approvals across multiple jurisdictions as it seeks to broaden access to its microwave ablation systems.
The latest registrations in Vietnam cover both ablation needles and generators, while the Egyptian process remains at a preliminary approval stage.
Baird Medical did not announce new commercial distribution agreements or provide updated financial guidance in connection with the regulatory developments.
Baird Medical also confirmed plans to attend the American Thyroid Association Annual Meeting, scheduled for 4–7 November 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The event brings together healthcare professionals and researchers involved in thyroid disease diagnosis, treatment and clinical research.
