Alphabet Introduces Gemini for Government Services Platform for US Public Agencies

By Fiona Craig | October 20, 2026, 7:13 AM

Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG) has introduced Gemini for government services, an artificial intelligence platform designed to help US federal, state and local government agencies automate administrative processes and manage information across existing systems.

According to a company announcement, the platform is currently available in preview and provides pre-built AI capabilities, data connectors and integrations with third-party applications to support government operations.

The State of Missouri and the US Department of Health and Human Services are among the organisations participating in the platform’s initial adoption.

Gemini for government services forms part of Google’s expansion of industry-specific artificial intelligence applications, following the recent introduction of Gemini for legal and Gemini for financial services.

The platform includes pre-configured capabilities for administrative workflows and connections to software commonly used by government organisations.

Supported integrations include Google Workspace, Microsoft SharePoint, Outlook 365, Salesforce and ServiceNow, allowing agencies to connect the platform with existing productivity, customer management and operational systems.

Google has also incorporated connections to federal regulatory information sources, including the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations (eCFR), regulations.gov and the Federal Register.

The company identified Accenture Federal Services, Deloitte, SAIC and Slalom among the consulting and technology partners involved in the platform’s ecosystem.

According to Alphabet, potential applications include interpreting government policies, supporting procurement compliance procedures and processing documents submitted by members of the public, such as pay statements and rental agreements.

The platform is also designed to assist government agencies with document redactions required under the Freedom of Information Act.

Thomas Kurian, Chief Executive Officer of Google Cloud, commented on the platform’s security requirements and intended applications.

“To deploy agentic capabilities in the public sector requires non-negotiable standards for security, confidentiality, and data sovereignty,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. “Gemini for government services provides a secure environment for agencies to automate workflows, allowing civil servants to focus on delivering the responsive, high-quality services that citizens expect.”

Regarding data handling, Google stated that information belonging to government agencies remains within their respective cloud environments.

The company also said its underlying AI models are not trained using customer data without the customer’s consent.

The preview release expands Alphabet’s portfolio of specialised Gemini applications into the US public sector. The company has not disclosed financial terms, expected revenue contributions or a timetable for general availability.
