KraneShares Wahed Alternative Income Index ETF is an actively managed fund that seeks to provide alternative income through a Shariah-compliant "forward sale" strategy. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its assets in a portfolio of non-dividend-paying U.S. equities that meet rigorous Islamic ethical screens. To generate income without relying on interest (Riba), the fund effects a synthetic forward sale for each equity position by simultaneously selling a call option and buying a put option (a "collar" structure). This approach is designed to produce a delta-neutral outcome, shielding the portfolio from broad market directionality while capturing a predetermined premium spread.
