Both wholesale and core producer price index (PPI) readings for August saw unexpected0.1% drops, applying more pressure to rate-cut expectations for the upcoming Federal Reserve policy meeting. The S&P 500 Index (SPX) and Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) both notched fresh record highs with help from Oracle (ORCL) stock's surge. On the flip side, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) is deep in the red, last seen down 226 points.

The options pits are on fire in response, with 31,000 calls and 198,000 puts traded so far, 5 times the average daily amount. Most popular are the September 26 and 27.50 puts, with new positions being opened at both.  

One of the best stocks on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) today is Bloom Energy Corp (NYSE:BE), last seen up 16.5% at $62.22, earlier tapping a record high of $65.48. The $60 floor is supporting today's bull gap, which looks to be a halo lift from peer Oracle stock. BE is up 187% in 2025, with long-term support stemming from the ascending 20-day moving average.

Rubrick Inc (NYSE:RBRK) is down 15.3% at $83.42 at last check. Now one of the worst performers on the NYSE, the software firm is brushing off a narrower-than-expected second-quarter loss and revenue beat as investors worry expectations are too high. Despite the pullback, RBRK maintains a healthy 30% year-to-date win.
