During Trump's visit to the automaker's facility in Dearborn, Michigan, the president was seen making an obscene gesture with his middle finger and also mouthing "f— you" towards a heckler, who has been identified as TJ Sabula, a 40-year-old worker at the facility, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday.
Sabula, who is a member of the United Auto Workers union, criticized Trump's handling of the investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and reportedly called him a "pedophile protector." Sabula has since been suspended from work until Ford completes an investigation into the incident, the report suggests.
Ford and UAW didn't immediately respond to Benzinga's request for comment.
Sabula shared in the report that he had "no regrets whatsoever” for his comments about the President. Two separateGoFundMecampaigns showcase that the worker has received close to $800,000 in donations, but both campaigns have currently paused donations. "We greatly appreciate the outpouring of support! At this time we are closing donations to this campaign," the pages said.
Trump Touts Ending War On ICE-Powered Vehicles
Trump, during his visit to the Detroit Economic Forum, shared that he had ended the previous administration’s and Joe Biden's war on internal combustion vehicles and ended the EV mandate through various regulations, including the relaxation of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.
Trump's move has been hailed by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, as well as Ford CEO Jim Farley, who shared that the regulation would help the automaker focus more on its domestic investments.
