RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX) shares remained relatively stable on Wednesday following the announcement of a new defense contract award.

RTX's Raytheon unit reports that the company won a major contract from the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center for an advanced reconnaissance system.

Contract Details

The award is valued at about $197 million and covers production, engineering support and aircraft integration for Poland's air force.

Poland becomes the first NATO member and the fourth global air force chosen to receive the MS-110 Multispectral Reconnaissance System.

The multispectral pods use artificial intelligence and machine learning to rapidly process wide-area and long-range imagery in varied conditions.

"The MS-110 system brings advanced capability by pushing next-generation processing to the tactical edge," said Dan Theisen, president of Advanced Products and Solutions at Raytheon.

Raytheon officials said the system will improve surveillance, responsiveness and survivability for allied forces.

Aircraft Compatibility

The MS-110 can be carried by fighters, maritime patrol planes, special mission aircraft and medium-altitude drones.

Assembly and integration work will take place in Westford, Massachusetts, with completion set for August 2031.
